Abstract:Optical fiber shape sensing technology is an innovative technology solution to solve the 3D morphology recovery problems of flexible body morphometry, optical cable real-time morphology tracking, real-time tracking of medical interventional needle trajectory and so on. Optical fiber shape sensing technology takes optical fiber as the sensing body, does not require visual contact, is easy to install, embedded, corrosion resistant, anti-electromagnetic interference, suitable for underwater, underground and other complex environment in large-scale structure morphology measurement, has a wide range of application needs in underwater security, disaster warning, medical instruments and other fields. In the past two decades, with the development of society, the demand for shape sensing has become increasingly urgent in various fields, and this topic has been favored by scholars at home and abroad.In this paper, based on the research progress of optical fiber shape sensing technology in recent years, according to the realization process of optical fiber shape sensing technology , we divided the optical fiber shape sensing technology into optical fiber curvature sensor, omnidirectional optical curvature fiber sensor and optical fiber shape sensor, furthermore ,we introduced the method of sensor and the difficult points in different stages.
