Abstract:The unit structure of the proposed metamaterial terahertz beam splitter is composed of the top metal strip, the intermediate medium layer and the bottom metal plate. By spatially arranging four unit cells in a rotation angle step of 45°, a phase gradient metasurface of 4×4 with a phase difference of 90° between adjacent unit cells is designed. When a terahertz wave is normal incident into the surface of the array structure, the wave is reflected into four beams with equal energy but different propagating directions, and also reflection angles are different at different frequency. The terahertz beam splitter wtih small size and low cost can be applied the fields such as terahertz stealth and terahertz imaging.
