Abstract:MIMO is a promising technique in visible light communication, and channel correlation is considered as an important factor affecting its performance. As a result, factors affecting MIMO channel correlation were studied in this paper. Firstly, according to the model of Lambertian emission, MIMO channel model was constructed in theory and then the relationship between MIMO channel correlation and parameters of space distance was deduced. Furthermore, experimental demonstration was set up and the theoretical results were confirmed by experiments. The theoretical and experimental results both show that MIMO channel correlation was decreased with the increasing of LED spacing, PD spacing and the decreasing of the distance between LED and PD plane. The results can be an important guidance for layout of LEDs and PDs.
