General image sensors usually present poor imaging effect under low-light environment, thus it is important to improve the image contrast by using the image enhancement algorithms. However, most image enhancement algorithms for improving image contrast are based on static images. In this paper, an improved framework of image enhancement based on de-fog algorithms was proposed, it is not only benificial to FPGA realization, but also good for video enhancement. Test results show that the improved algorithm takes less FPGA logic resource and can process 1080P 60f/s video in real-time with a better contrast.
