Based on the theoretical model of EDFA and the analysis theory of the stimulated Raman scattering effecting, making use of the complementary characteristics of the gain spectrum of EDFA and RFA, the hybrid amplifier structure combining EDFA and RFA was studied and designed with two fibers cascading RFA. The simulation results show that the hybrid fiber amplifier can obtain the approximate equal output signal power without gain equalizer. The gain flatness and the wavelength bandwidth are 0.62 dB and 70 nm (1 550~1 620 nm), respectively. It has important application value for the dense wavelength division multiplexing optical communication system.
