Parity-time (PT ) symmetric optical system is a new optical structure presented in recent years. It will be widely applied to optical switch and photon information handling devices. The existence and stability of fundamental solitons with PT symmetric single complex potentials are reported. The results show that there exists a critical propagation constant, and the eigenvalue for fundamental linear mode is equal to the critical propagation constant of fundamental solitons existence. The power of solitons increases with increasing propagation constant or decreasing modulation depth of the potentials. Fundamental solitons are stable not only in deep potentials but also in shallow potentials.
