Abstract:In this article, studied were the optical and electrical characteristics of the blue PHOLEDs with an emission layer consisting of sequential neat FIrpic and spacer layers, ie. (TCTA/FIrpic)n or (FIrpic/TPBI)n. By varying the thickness of the neat FIrpic and the spacer layers, the effect of molecule aggregation and exciton annihilation on the efficiency of the devices can be controlled. The devices with an emission layer of TCTA 5nm/FIrpic 1nm/TCTA 5nm/FIrpic 1nm/TPBI 5nm/FIrpic 1nm, exhibit a peak efficiency of 9.9cd/A, and the small thickness (1nm) of neat FIrpic layers in the emission layer can suppress the molecule aggregation and reduce the exciton annihilation.
