Abstract:For perimeter security systems based on traditional FBG wavelength division multiplexing (WDM), the sensing units are limited by light bandwidth and demodulation, so a concept of identical FBG vibration sensor is proposed, meanwhile the problems of security distance, system cost and efficiency are solved at some extent. The application feasibility of the proposed concept in perimeter security systems is discussed, and the experimental programs are designed. Experimental results show that, there will be varying degrees of wavelength sensitivity loss after the access of two identical FBG vibration sensors with the same wavelength. For the 12 kinds of connections, the wavelength sensitivity of which 10 is greater than 20pm. The identical FBG vibration sensor can not only improve the capacity of the system, but also make the FBG perimeter systems greatly reduce the cost and improve market competitiveness.
