Abstract:In order to solve the problem of signal transmission deterioration of high voltage isolation optocoupler when the isolation voltage rises to 22kV, a method of adding light pipe between the light source and the detector is put forward. The decrement of detectors divergence angle to the light source caused from spacing increase will be compensated with the light gathering ability of light pipe, making the detector receives enough optical power to meet requirement of signal transmission. Contrastive calculations for the ratio of receiving optical power to the light source optical power show that, 22kV high voltage isolation optocouplers with light pipe can get equal signal transmission characteristic compared to 10kV devices. Test results validate the calculation results and the feasibility of the method.
