By using Matlab/Simulink to build a photovoltaic array mathematical model, the defects of traditional MPPT method were analyzed. And according to the problems of slow tracking speed and misjudgment existing in traditional incremental conductance method, the effects of temperature and light intensity on the output characteristic of photovoltaic array were researched. Based on which a new improved conductivity increment method was put forward, and the core of the algorithm was optimized, then the maximum power tracking was realized using S-function. Simulation results prove that the improved method can be more rapid and accurate in maximum power tracking.
