Abstract:Using the characteristics of different phase shift magnitude in phase shift fiber grating will get different transmission frequency window in the transmission prohibiting band, a project of single light source millimeter-wave generation is proposed with using the optical heterodyne method, in which the two different frequencies come from a single light source and then are composed to a radio frequency signal. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation show that the single light source millimeter-wave generation system has lower random phase noise than double light source system, so the millimeter-wave can be generated with steady wavelength, lower phase noise, easy modulating frequency, better coupling effect, etc. Therefore, the project of single light source millimeter-wave generation can provide reference for the practical applications of radio over fiber communication system.
