Abstract:A novel optical add-drop multiplexer output (OADM) structure, consisting of two parallel Mach-Zehnder interferometers and four sampled gratings, is proposed based on Mach-Zehnder interferometers and sampled fiber Bragg gratings (SFBG). The OADM output characteristics were theoretically simulated, and the spectral characteristics of drop port and output port were researched with the channel spacing of 0.8nm. It is found that the path-length difference of the interferometers and the center wavelength of the sampling gratings play important roles in determining the output characteristics of OADM, by adjusting which, adjustable signal channels drop or pass can be achieved.
