Abstract:An amplifying circuit for the wide dynamic range optical receiver front-end with an transmission rate of 2Gb/s is designed by using UMC 0.18 μm CMOS technology. A logarithmic amplifier is applied to increase the input dynamic range of the optical receiver, a differential common source transimpedance amplifier is used as the pre-amplifier and the active inductor load is used to increase the bandwidth. Experiment results show that the gain of the front-end is 80dB, the 3dB bandwidth is 2.3GHz, the output diagram at bit rate of 2.5Gb/s is good, and the input dynamic range is 60dB (1μA~1mA).
